4th EL*C Conference – Rome, 2025
We are thrilled to announce that our next EL*C Conference will take place in Rome, Italy, from April 23 to April 26, 2025.
EL*C Conferences
Our conferences are our lighthouses – In 2017, we organized our conference entitled “Lesbians in Europe: Act, Reflect, Transform, Connect” in Vienna Austria and in 2019, we held our second international conference entitled “Let’s Bring Lesbian Genius to the World!” in Kyiv, Ukraine. The third conference, “Lesbian Resistance”, took place in Budapest in 2022.
Overall, our conferences have served as key moments to measure the pulse of the lesbian movement, to support and celebrate the lesbian community, to foster or strengthen new projects and connections, to serve as a base to develop strategies for growth and sustainability, and to gather visibility and media attention around lesbian struggles and achievements.
Why rome
In 2025, we are going to Rome. The choice of location responds to the ongoing attack on lesbian rights in Italy, which culminated in 2023 with the removal of lesbian mothers from their children’s birth certificates. This discriminatory action has mobilized the Italian lesbian movement, which continues to fight tirelessly for recognition and equal rights.
By gathering in Rome, we aim to amplify lesbian voices and stand in solidarity with our Italian sisters and siblings, demonstrating our commitment to justice and human rights. This conference also stands as a united response to broader governmental attacks against women’s rights, access to abortion, trans people and the wider LGBTI community, migrants, refugees, and Roma people .
about the conference
This upcoming conference promises to be a gathering celebrating the strength and unity of our community, to foster a spirit of solidarity and activism, leaving participants inspired to continue the struggle for lesbian rights.
Attendees can look forward to a schedule filled with lesbian activism, feminist discourse, and ample opportunities to connect with fellow human rights defenders. Whether you are a seasoned activist or new to the movement, you will find a supportive and dynamic community ready to embrace you. We are committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment. Our conference is trans-inclusive and open to all who share our passion for advancing lesbian rights.
