Workshop – Bodies to the Front

What happens when we bring our bodies to the front – not only in our activism, but also in how we build, organise and sustain our communities?

Join us for our second September online workshop on physical empowerment:ย ๐Ÿƒ Bodies to the Front โ€“ Building Community Through and Around Sport

๐Ÿ“…โ€ฏDate:โ€ฏ24 September, 2026
๐Ÿ•’โ€ฏTime:โ€ฏ18:30-20:00 CET
๐Ÿ’ปโ€ฏFormat:โ€ฏOnline (Zoom)
๐Ÿ“ Registration is open only for EL*C members

Together with J, we will explore the connections between our bodies, physical activity, empowerment and community building and how sport can become another space for queer feminist organising.

As part of the Zoom registration, we will ask you a few short questions about your experiences and expectations. Your answers will help shape the workshop around the people in the room.

J has been actively involved in building, facilitating and organizing queer sports communities, events and collaborative learning processes throughout the Balkans and beyond. On the ground in Berlin, they, among other things, organize Internationalist Queer Pride Berlin and most recently a sports-centered community around it.

FLINTA bodies are deeply politicised: watched, controlled, judged and often underrepresented or excluded from traditional sports spaces. But our bodies can also be places of agency, resistance, connection and political change.

This interactive workshop will invite us to think about how we can reclaim and decolonise our bodies and create spaces where physical activity becomes a tool for both individual and collective empowerment.

Together, we will explore:

๐Ÿ”ฅ Bodies and politics: what it means to bring politics beyond conference rooms and into the spaces where our bodies move.
๐Ÿƒ Physical activity as empowerment: exploring agency, confidence and our relationships with our bodies through movement and sport.
๐Ÿ’œ Community through sport: how we can build, organise and nourish queer feminist communities around physical activity.
โœŠ Reclaiming space: challenging the exclusion and underrepresentation of FLINTA people in traditional sports environments and imagining alternatives created by and for our communities.

The workshop will use an interactive โ€œpatchworkโ€ methodology, combining written, visual and spoken reflection and exchange. You do not need to be an athlete or have any particular sporting experience to participate.

Bring your experiences, your questions and your body however it moves. ๐Ÿ’œ
