Evien Tjabbes is a co-founder of the International Lesbian Information Service (ILIS) and co-organizer of their first ever lesbian conference in Amsterdam 1980. From then on she was active in the ILIS secretariat as well as the ILGA women’s secretariat and participated in many international lesbian/gay conferences chairing various plenary sessions. In ’82 she co-ordinated the Dutch demonstration in support of Eliana Morrissen.
Within EL*C she works on governance and other internal issues. while also bridging the past to the present. She is a co-founder of the Herstory Avengers a group that is retrieving lesbian herstory through a podcast on ILIS.
She is an intercultural career counsellor & trainer and last but not least an enthusiastic tai chi practitioner.
