PANEL: LESBIANS HEADING SOCIAL JUSTICE MOVEMENTS

29 September 2022 @ 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM

Numerous studies, including research conducted by EL*C, have shown that in many countries in Europe and Central Asia, LBQTI women and non-binary persons are, or have been, at the forefront of social and political change, despite their efforts, creativity and activist contributions being too often invisibilised or marginalised. In this panel, the floor is given to LBQTI women leading intersectional fights or being catalysts of change for social and environmental justice. From Black LGBT+ workers rights or queer migrants trajectories to the #metoo movement, from combating ablism or fatphobia to queer ecology, the discussion will explore what it means to be an LBQTI advocate across other movements, and why it is so important to mainstream an intersectional LBTIQ feminist approach.
