Call for Participants TransCity: International Workshop

This is an invitation to an intensive, intimate three-day workshop to share radical trans possibilities, coalitions, and joy. This is an invitational gesture to transfeminist theorists, creative writers, artists, and activist-scholars who find themselves—time and again—not fitting within hegemonic institutions, grand narratives about our lives, and preconceived aesthetics of trans identities. This workshop is a meeting space for activist-scholars who interpret ‘trans’ as a radically open category in which we could collectively breathe; who seek to articulate and practise a coalitional, internationalist transfeminist politics through which to resist and struggle against fascist anti-gender agendas and authoritarian, neoliberal capitalism. We envision this workshop as a space in which we can breathe together, learn from each other, and nurture abolition, social transformation, and radical hope.

How to apply: please fill this form, where you will be asked to provide a 500 words abstract of a paper; OR to upload 5 minutes audio or video recording; OR to upload 5 images representative of a work that can be presented within 20 minutes or less by August 28 2023, 11:59 pm. You will receive a reply with a decision on August 31 2023 and 1 you will be asked to confirm your participation by September 11 2023. Unfortunately, no incomplete or late submissions can be considered.
