Intersex LB+ Women and Non-Binary Persons in Greece – Report

This report by Intersex Greece maps the specific needs of intersex women, girls and non-binary individuals in Greece who identify as lesbian, bisexual, or with other non-heterosexual orientations. Following an “intersex-led” methodology, the research is based on an anonymous questionnaire distributed within the intersex community, covering demographic data, disclosure experiences, discrimination (in family, education, work, relationships and social life), the relationship between intersex variation, gender identity and sexual orientation, body/trauma experiences, and unmet needs. It builds on the 2023 GREVIO evaluation report on Greece — the first to reference intersex women — and responds to the gap left by Law 4958/2022, which banned non-consensual surgeries on intersex children but did not extend legal gender recognition to non-binary intersex people. The report closes with intervention proposals and recommendations for institutional and policy reform.
