Unwanted Loneliness in Lesbian, Bisexual and Pansexual Women in Galicia: Preliminary Results – Report
This preliminary report by LesCoruña presents survey findings on unwanted loneliness among 137 lesbian, bisexual and pansexual women and non-binary people in Galicia, Spain (2024), using a Spanish-validated short form of the UCLA Loneliness Scale. Overall, 30.7% of the sample reported unwanted loneliness, higher among bisexual/pansexual respondents (36.4%) than lesbians (26.8%), and higher in A Coruña (33.7%) and Lugo (33.3%) than in Ourense (22.2%) or Pontevedra (24.2%). A third of those who don’t currently feel lonely reported having felt lonely in the past. The report also covers demographic profile (age, education, employment, disability, migration status, living situation), feelings of exclusion or isolation specifically tied to being an LBT woman, and prevalence of poor health indicators (anxiety/depression, low self-esteem, life dissatisfaction) by province — flagging the need for a larger sample outside A Coruña for more reliable province-level breakdowns.
