Tara Chanady is a PhD candidate and recurrent lecturer at Université de Montréal, where she currently teaches a class on Media, Gender and Sexuality. Her work focuses on lesbian and queer representation in the north-american media, including hypersexualisation of lesbian sexuality, queer apprachches to sexuality on american television as well as the history of gay and lesbian visibility on Quebec television. Tara identifies as a lesbian and feminist activist, and gives formations on lesbophia and lesbian identities in different public organisations. She is also the founder and chief editor of Université de Montréal’s only feminist academic journal, Minorités lisibles la revue des enjeux féministes, de genres et de sexualités.
